I have geda installed. I used apt-get install geda. Then pcb, gerbv,
gtkwave, verilog, etc.
I just can not get ngspice to work and I have not found gsch2pcb.

Check that you have the correct development headers installed.
As far as gEDA is concerned, all
Thanks for the reply.
I have tried several options, but, cannot get a plot to display.
I tried building with --with-x, but that gives me 'no graphics
interface'
Any ideas?

ngspice lacks tricky dependencies, so grab the tarball from
ngspice.sourceforge.net
It's a straightforward GNU

Not yet. I'll probably try the al foil stencil first.
For those who don't know: Laminate photofilm on both sides of aluminum
foil, expose it, and develop it. Now DIP

I usually put packing tape on the back to keep it from etching, but I
float it anyway. I've tried lining up the two sides but lining them
up is tricky.

So you cover the entire surface of brass with toner except for the areas
where you want holes to penetrate (e.g. SMT pads)? Then just let it float,
face-down in the FeCl? I would think it's tricky to make sure the bottom
side is immersed and etches successfully while providing the top side from

Yes. 2-3 mil seems to be best for the size parts I use.

Hi, My pcb has passed DFM at a two fab shops (4pcb and Sierra) with 5.8
mil spacing. When I set file/preferences/size/DRC cu space to 5 mil and
run pcb drc it gives me the x, y to the centre point of a highlighted

Hmm,
That would be SketchUp :)
To be found at: http://sketchup.google.com/
Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create, modify and share
3D models. It's easier to learn than other 3D modeling programs, which
is why so many people are already using it.
Have not tried it myself, dun
That's really slick... I love the stencil pictures. How exactly did you
etch all the way through? I assume your raw material was a sheet of brass?

Here's what the wiki says:
http://www.geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:faq-attribs#bom_generation
It suggests using bom2, which is what I tend to use.
Another thing you can do is use gattrib to work out your BOM, and then
export a CSV file from there. Then import that file into your
favorite spreadsheet
Please excuse my post without a subject.
Hi again, how do I pull a bill of material out of the schematic? The
documentation and Google leave me wondering if it is a work in process and
which version of bom I should use.

I am looking for a quality manufacturer to build apx.
100-1000 pieces of a few different boards. The boards consist
of SMD passives (0402-1210), SMD actives SOT23, SC70,
SOIC, QFP, QFN all with lead pitch >=0.5mm. SMD
Electromechanical parts consist of headers, USB Mini-B,

I've used it to make home-made brass paste stencils[1] for some bigger
boards with high-density parts. Not really useful for hand-soldering,

uses Adobe Illustrator. CAD seems good at representing very exact ideas
