Thanks.

patches from different sources. And I'm
interested in both. Is it possible to get both sets of changes?
On a somewhat related note: Does the gentoo kernel already contain the LSM
kernel patch?
Thanks for the help.

but with stage3 you just install
pre-compiled binaries just like all the other Linux distributions.
Am I right?
Thanks for the help.

Alright, that's not the question I thought he was asking. Af for the
toolkits themselves, I think that they are both good, but I don't have any
d
ged of that. You can make a GUI that hangs or one that
doesn't hang just as easily in each.

I prefer to program in Gtk than Qt. Things like that.

Do I need /boot mounted to boot the system?
Can I just comment out the '/boot ...' line in /etc/fstab?

#x27;t have a "run" button to
execute them. That's okay, you don't need one. Just keep a terminal open
and run it from there.

ogramming was just trial and error.
Do you already know how to program?
Do you have your heart set on a particular language?
Knowing this will help me answer your question.

er everyone does right now. Once almost everyone is in LSB, you
can move them, in steps, towards a more optimal system.

2b) Copy backup_home.tar.gz to the server.
2c) rm backup_home.tar.gz
...
You get the idea.

er.
In other words, though I agree that your idea of adding /usr/pkg and
making Gnome, KDE, etc lie in it, is likely the best hierarchy, there are
other considerations why the LSB should not implement it (i.e. no one
would be compliant).
There is an LSB-Future project. I wonder if they'll c

guess that all that can be done is change the FHS. I'll post an email

what to do about KDE and Gnome. Perhaps a not-too-distant version of the

roblem. If the
Gentoo has KDE in /usr/kde/2 and /usr/kde/3, and LSB doesn't allow /usr/kde,
why don't we just move /usr/kde to /usr/share, so we would make:
/usr/share/kde/2
/usr/share/kde/3
I'm sure that this question just demonstrates my ignorance of LSB and Gentoo,
but hec
le and unsupportable.
What exactly is the problem with Gentoo's LSB compliance?
Once again, thanks for the responses. Gentoo does look amazing.
