Hi Renee, Hope you don't mind but I have had a lot of experience in this area. I worked for Ventana for 7 1/2 years as technical specialist and now as a Technical Support Manager and I know that getting sections to stick to slides can be a bit challenging especially during antigen retrieval.

If you are using an automated stainer the plexiglas cover that they all have will block UV light. For instance we run all our IF in a Dako stainer with the slightly tinted Plexiglas and have not had any problems. If staining manually in a tray, covering with something to block light is ok. On
