Thanks to all who responded to my question regarding PAS staining! We got much better staining after following you guys suggestion: a. we purchased reagent from American Mastertech b. we used 1% periodic acid c. we rinse slides under warm water after Schiff's step. Thanks again, Amy

Cover it loosely, and warm it up a little with a stir bar, under a hood. You should be able to tell the difference between alcoholic and aqueous formalin by smell. Why isn't it labelled? Sincerely,
