I have used orange peel for years. I never had a problem with the pathologist
not approving the control for use on patient stains. Its "naturally
occurring", a petri dish would not be naturally occurring in my mind.
Once I verified the orange peel does stain the fungus the same way it does
elves.

I would suggest observing your
stainer to ensure the proper drop zones are being performed and not just
dropping closest to the label. I used Dako for years and loved them but you do
have to make sure it dispenses properly from time to time. They use drop zones
unlike Ventana which use

All I have to go by is CAP's response to the question, "Is IHC a High
Complexity Test". Their verbal answer is no, but there is nothing formally
documented. The only documented statement is from 2010 Webinar during the
Question and Answer portion. It is as follows,

The professional interpretation is considered a high complexity test but not
the actual technical component.

mystery). That did the trick beautifully.

There was no fading on the tissue cassettes at all. The writing was as
clear and crisp as when they were first written.
I also can still use the Securline Marker 2 pens for writing out my slides.

Nuclear Fast Red needs to be heated during prep and it does take a little
while to dissolve, it never really dissolves entirely, probably saturates
the solution pretty fast.

I have been in the histology field for 20 years and never heard of having to
remove the labels prior to disposal through an approved vendor. I don't
believe that the labels from blood tubes are removed prior to disposal, this
would be the same type of scenario.

I have worked at labs that reuse molds and ones that clean between uses.
Guess it all depends on what your definition of a "clean" mold is. If you
have the time and space, not reusing the molds is best practice but not
always practical.

higher polymer paraffin's are not as suited for processing, it is more
for the embedding portion of the process.
Use a paraffin with lower polymers content in the processor and higher for
embedding and you will like the results.

that issue, it sounds more like you need to add some Tween to your buffer.

We use Statlab and Fisher marking inks. We dip our specimens in Bouin's or
Vinegar to set the ink. We don't have any problems with the ink coming off.

We use Davidson inks, except for the green. The green was gumming up our VIP
processors. In fact we found out that Dr. Davidson does not recommend using the
green for tissues to go through a processor, but that was not in the datasheet.
So we use Cancer Research for the green ink.
