For cortical tubules (proximal convoluted tubules, PCT) to have a nice,
open lumen one needs to fix by perfusion.This has been known for many years.
Failing that, use a fix that works very rapidly in needed, alcoholic
formalin for example, and slice the kidney into thin slices.
