Odd server crash - no error output
We have also seen this a few times this week, server is froze, no auto
restart it just sits as a frozen server.
I have to kill it in its screen and restart the server. Today we had this
twice.
No debug, no clean crash and restart, it just hangs dead.

Seems like I have fixed the problem with server lag (hopefully) from
03/13/07 update. Problem seems to be related rather old libc6
c-libraries or it's threading bugs in Debian Sarge (sarge/amd64 in my
case, maybe others too). First the specs,

While I'm at it, one of my users pointed out an interresting question, we
are using symlinks on our setups. Are you guyz having this problem using
symlink as well ?

Hmm, when my CS server ran on FC3 and the 2.6.12 kernel everything was fine.
Now it got about 3% CPU usage even when hlds is in idle state.
The lags are there right after hlds starts and become more frequent and
severe the more players are connected.

Maybe you'd prefer an access where I can tell you which server has the
problem so you can trace the process and see whats going wrong.. I should

Well, i can give you SSH access to my servers, if you want. Contact me by
private email.
There you can join the screens, and follow the fps issue yourself. * If there
is anyone on the server, because because of this problem, its going empty
since days :((

Well I'm willing to give you root and csserver access to my server if that
helps.
It's a clean update from FC3 through FC4 to FC5. :D

I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, if someone can give me ssh access
to a machine (with GDB installed) that immediately on launch reproduces the
problem I may get more traction on the problem :)

I have also run into this issue. I had a script in place that would
automatically renice the srcds process to -20, which worked great. Somewhere
down the line, that functionality broke, and whenever I use -20 (or anything
lower than 0 actually) it

High everyone,
I just updated my Fedora Core server to version 5.
When I now "renice" the hlds process I immediately get high CPU usage.
The kernel I run is:
Linux xyz 2.6.20-1.2300.fc5 #1 Sun Mar 11 19:29:11 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386
GNU/Linux
Any ideas?
Tom
