I think it is possible to configure a range of virtual/emulated 3590 cartridges
within the VTS, but you'll have to do it from z/OS or on the 3494 console.
Then you can just let z/VM use that range of tapes.

Our VTS is B20 , 3952 drives.
We tested backup to disk and from disk to tape but problem is amount of
tapes that
autochanger have to use.
That why we would like to configure bigger tapes.
