Thanks for all replies.
Problem was solved. Few code changes.

I always preferred REPRO IFILE, OFILE for backups.
Add a BUFND=xx (# of data buffers) parameter... Note: VSAM defaults to 2.

Hello Ken,
Thanks. I rarely use Export/Import as BACKUP/RESTORE is available on our z/VSE
system.
BACKUP/RESTORE has a very good performance record. Isn't EXPORT/IMPORT similar
to REPRO performance-wise?
I will look into EXPORT/IMPORT.

If you log onto
z/OS IDCAMS --> EXPORT, IMPORT.

Hello Everyone,
I am asking this cross-list because many of you all have z/OS.
z/VSE has IDCAMS BACKUP/RESTORE as part of the product. BACKUP/RESTORE
is a high buffered/high performance VSAM backup and restore.
Does z/OS IDCAMS have BACKUP/RESTORE?

I see three possible reasons why this may not work:
1) The second REXEC command you meant to send did not get
constructed properly,
2) You are executing the second REXEC command interactively, which
violates the restriction on interactive commands,
3) VM TCP/IP can have rest

Now I understand. Doesn't change my advice. If exec1 executes exec2 then exec2
must be on an accessed disk, NUCXLOADed or in a shared segment (or whatever they
call it these days). Essentially, no different than your local environment.

What's REXEC? Rexx is built-in to CMS. Nothing special is needed except that the
first line be a Rexx comment so that CMS can tell the difference between EXEC,
EXEC2 and Rexx.
Generally speaking, if Rexx can't find a called exec (or function), you haven't
ACCESSed the necessary disk.

If they are NOTACCEPTED, as Gregg Reed suggests, they are covered both when
they are added dynamically and when VM is subsequently ipled. You can use
commands to add them to your configuration as needed. Just remember to take
them out of the NOTACCEPTED list so that they will be part of your sy

I think you also might want to check your New_Devices setting in the SYSTEM
CONFIG.
If it is enabled, new devices will be brought online when the system sees
them appear.

Greetings,
I have a guestion regaurding z/VM I/O configuration. After I IPL my z/VM I
have about a dozen devices (DASD) defined (Q DASD FREE), which is what I
expect. But at some time during the life of the IPL the z/OS admin loads a

Hello,
I am running a REXX on cms machine using REXEC.
The REXEC is starting OK, but when its gets to point where it needs to
run another REXEC - it ends up with RC=36.
Any idea how to perform REXEC within REXEC ?
Thanks !!!
