I think that you will find it easier to use a 2nd terminal to dial into
the guest. I have SPECIAL statements in the guest directory entry at
the addresses of the MVS master console and a few TSO 3270 addresses:
SPECIAL 1E00 3270
SPECIAL 1E20 3270
I also use DEDICATE statements to

CMS does not support a CONMODE 3270 terminal. I guess your REXX EXEC to start
z/OS contains some TRACE instruction making that it produces output.

PSW is a message number. So you could look up HCPW. E.g. HELP
HCP1010W on an active VM system. Don't worry about hex vs. decimal - just

I guess if I interpreted the instructions correctly it would work the first
time. The installation procedures say: Integrated 3270 Console. This is my
first install on a zSeries and I selected the Operating System Messages window
on the HMC. I'm used to it being referred to as the Integrated Con
I think the DVD defaults to SYSG - so just make sure you have the Integrated
3270 console window up before you IPL from the DVD. Although I thought I
remembered an normal IPL screen to start the DVD install, including
LOADPARM.. this was on a z10 last week.

You can enter CONSSYSG in the Loadparm field, then you bypass the SAPL
screen.
(with simply SYSG in Loadparm SAPL will be started and you must enter
CONS=SYSG in SAPL and press F10 to load).

If you use the SHUTTRAP program from the IBM Downloads page to intercept
the SIGNAL SHUTDOWN interrupt, you can terminate your code nicely and
then load the Disabled Wait PSW to trigger CP to log you off AND
properly inform the issuer of the SIGNAL SHUTDOWN command.

Is just friendlyness of CP. It tells your VSE loaded a PSW to sleep
forever. A not-so-nice CP wouldn't tell you anything ans leave things as
they were, you'd be woken
onse to a DYNAM/VSE
