This morning I dd'ed (if=... of=...) to the recovery partition. For my surprise, after restart, the iMac no longer boots.
FireWire does not activate. Option does not show anything. Pressing C does not boot from the DVD. I have also tried to netboot, safe mode, etc... Any hints ?
