Hello All,

I'm afraid of what the answer will be, but I thought I would ask
anyway. I have the first Intel iMac (20" Display, Core Duo, 2GB of
maxed out RAM). The HD failed, so I bought a new one. I watched a
few videos on Youtube, then cracked the computer open. When I lifted
the monitor, I pulled the ribbon out of the back of the screen. I
couldn't get it back in. The metal 'clip' came off and wouldn't go
back on. The clip broke so I threw it away. I forced the ribbon into
the port. So, the hard drive was replaced, the ribbon was forced back
into place (and taped down with electrical tape) and I put everything
back together. Now the screen alternates between black, gray, red,
green and blue. The boot up sound is normal.

So, the question is whether this is a retrievable error or is the iMac
a loss?

Thanks,
Atmanaton
