I had an feeling I was going to learn something new by posting that :-)
Do you know of a possible work-around? I really would like to be able to
use Choice boxes without switching to FreeBSD.

This problem is apparently only relevant to linux, FreeBSD's JVM doesn't
have the same problem.
I may just switch everything to FreeBSD if I don't find a fix.

nse. I've confirmed it in Blackdown JDK 1.1.7_v3, 1.2pre2,
1.1.8_v1. And in the exact same situation Netscape for Linux works fine.
I'm downloading the IBM jdk right now and if it works I just might abandon
blackdown if I can't find a workaround.
