Would you like recommend some runtime tools for checking
the memory leak of a Java application? Better it will also
indicate which part of the program introducing the memory
leak.( say it will indicate that the JNI part )

For such type questions, I believe they have a same answer: modifying
the UI class, if we want some visual component looks different from
standard one but with the same or a little bit diff

I remember that long time ago, I also met the problem, and now I could
not remember how I fixed this problem very clearly. Maybe I just change
some add(xxx) to getContentPane().add(xxx).
But I think that the reason of your problem is you add the canvas on the
upper layer of the JMenu
Why not try null layout and then use setBounds to relocate
the component? I think the downside of null layout is it
could not give a adjustable layout when the resolution is
changed.
