Try
./configure --with-java=/usr/lib/jdk1.1
Replace "/usr/lib/jdk1.1" with the directory where you have the
JDK installed.

maybe your tya.tgz-file is corrupt. i had such strange effects when downloading tya
with netscape.
after downloading with a real ftp-client it worked
