Recycling Java Memory In Java applications, the programmer has explicit control of how objects are created but cannot explicitly give back the memory that these objects occupy when they are no longer needed. The process of garbage collection takes care of freeing up space that is no longer used to store objects. This paper gives a short description of garbage collection, why it is needed, and how it works. http://www-4.ibm.com/software/developer/library/garbage-collection.html?open&l=222,t=g,p=recy Also the new Visual XML Tools contains an install program which will also check for IBM JDK 1.2.2 in addition to Sun JDK/JRE 1.2.2.
