Hi All,
I'm fairly new to JunOS running 9.6 on M7i gear. I have two M7i's that
are each connected to one particular peer (same AS) that doesn't support
BFD for BGP or BFD for routes and the links also go through an
intermediate layer 2 switch (not ours; on the upstream side) so a fast

Assalamou 3alykom , how are you doing ?
For routers that have simple configuration ( simple CE for exemple )
you can use routing-instance whith type virtual-router included in a
logical router

Hi!
While thinking about using RFC5575 (flow routes), i found at
least some questions that i'm not able to answer.
a) RFC clearly states that 'flow routes must be validated'
and describes validation procedure using destination-prefix
attribute. But at the same time RFC does not enforce

Set "virtual-router-only" under your router-advertisement; then only the
VRRP master will send RA's.

Each logical-router instance takes the full resources of a complete
router. For example, 2 LR's with full
What about the interfaces that will be assigned to the CE? Is it
possible to assign them inside the routing-instance like logical routers
or we can use the lo0 sub-interfaces only.

Hi
I need to simulate JNCIE LAB which has more than 15 routers including
configured routers, eBGP neighbours, CE's.

Have you swapped out the cable? Gigabit spec will downshift if one of the pairs
is open.

No, please do not do that. It's not 1997 anymore. Recommending that
people do it as standard is not a good thing.

No chance with logical routers .. but virtual routers should be possible,
What are you trying to achieve with them ?

Hi Experts
Do you have ideas about increasing the number of logical routers per
physical router. I know that maximum is 15 routers but we need to
simulate a lab consists of about 24 logical routers on physical M7i
router, any ideas?

We've had great success with auto-neg between EX3200 and

Hi,
I've got some problems getting VRRP and router advertisements to play
nice. I configured my MXes like this (based on the example in the High
Availability Configuration Guide):
On router A:
[edit interfaces xe-1/1/0 unit 524 family inet6]
rpf-check;
address fe80::221:5900:3e0e:633a/64;

I haven't found a SFP that doesn't work in the MX or EX platforms yet -
Juniper, Finisar, Cisco and some generic OEM SFPs have all be fine.

Hi,
We have installed EX3200 with Cisco 3750, its working gr8. Two things,
statically configure duplex and speed on both switches. Turn off keepalive on
cisco interface connected to juniper switch or statically configure keepalive
on both switches for e.g 5 sec., keepalive do cause problem when
