[kdenlive] [Bug 514143] Keep turning Clip Monitor off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514143 editwithmyfeet changed: What|Removed |Added CC||[email protected] --- Comment #13 from editwithmyfeet --- Kdenlive 25.12.2 installer version Windows 11 Hi, I'm almost in the same condition. I have clip monitor (that i use rarely) in the main kde layout and the project monitor sent full screen --to another display--. From kde 25.12.0-B i'm edgy that if i point on any clip in the project bin, I loose focus from the project monitor. To regain focus on project monitor, i need to click on project monitor tab in the main interface before playing the timeline content. The previous behaviour was : click in project bin area, the focus is on the clip monitor - click in the timeline area and the focus is on the project monitor. Regards. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 514143] Keep turning Clip Monitor off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514143 --- Comment #12 from [email protected] --- Created attachment 189474 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=189474&action=edit Clip monitor not stealing focus in 25.08.3 with my layout Attached video shows both the behaviour you describe (if the clip monitor is in the same window as the project bin), and the behaviour I describe (where they're in different windows). I guess my workflow might be an "edge case", but I use kdenlive across 2 monitors, with the clip and project monitors in a separate window on a separate monitor from the main app window. Prior to 25.12, and possibly even with 25.12.1 (I wasn't doing video 2025Q3), I could single click select a clip in the project bin without the separate window toggling from the project monitor to the clip monitor, as shown in this video. Whatever change was recently made changed this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 514143] Keep turning Clip Monitor off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514143 --- Comment #11 from Bernd --- (In reply to [email protected] from comment #10) > It may be expected behaviour NOW, but it is new with 25.12.x -- it never > used to do this. I just tested this with 25.08.3 and the Clip Monitor gets the focus when a clip in the bin is selected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 514143] Keep turning Clip Monitor off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514143 --- Comment #10 from [email protected] --- "Clicking on a clip in the project bin brings up the clip monitor which is expected behavior." It may be expected behaviour NOW, but it is new with 25.12.x -- it never used to do this. Ideally, there would be an option to return to the behaviour to what it was previously where selecting a clip in the project bin kept the focus on the clip in the project bin. I don't use the clip monitor often, so I guess I will just disable it now that at least that's been updated per this bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 514143] Keep turning Clip Monitor off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=514143 Bernd changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |FIXED Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED --- Comment #9 from Bernd --- (In reply to [email protected] from comment #8) > Created attachment 189412 [details] > Screen recording showing clip monitor grabbing focus still > > Attached is a short video showing that when I select a clip in the project > bin it still changes focus to the clip monitor for that clip. It also shows > the version of kdenlive I'm on, and that there are no available updates in > flatpak. Thanks! You have enabled the Clip Monitor in Menu > View, so it shows as a widget as part of a group in the top left of your workspace. Clicking on a clip in the project bin brings up the clip monitor which is expected behavior. The fix we provided prevents the Clip Monitor widget that was disabled from being enabled whenever a clip is selected in the bin. This is working but requires the Clip Monitor to be disabled via Menu > View. The default layouts never have the Clip Monitor in the same group or space as the Project Bin. It is recommended to have the Clip Monitor in a separate group (for example with Project Notes) so that when going through the clips in the bin the clips are displayed in the Clip Monitor but the Project Bin is still available. Closing this bug report as RESOLVED - FIXED because it fixes the specific scenario the OP described. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

We are looking into this as it was introduced with 25.12 where we switched to a new way to managing and handling (widget) windows. Please bear with us to get this fixed. Clip Monitor can be switched off via the View menu but is enabled and brought to focus as soon as any clip is selected in the Project Bin. There is no setting to control that further. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
