Does the level of the battery icon actually reflect the battery status of the
connected device that has a battery? If so, I think this is intentional, and
the idea is to let you easily monitor the battery of your connected device.

Are you asking me? In that case, the icon makes sense, but my question would be
why are we showing the battery at all? Like on a laptop with a battery it makes
sense to have a combined icon with both a battery and a power profile
indicator. On a desktop without a battery less so. Like sure there could be
batteries present like a headphone battery or mouse battery or whatever but
those aren't relevant for power profiles.
So like tl;dr: down show a battery icon on a desktop.
