[plasmashell] [Bug 520099] Clipboard Widget blocked/deadlocked for some time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=520099 --- Comment #3 from TraceyC --- (In reply to Marc Schoechlin from comment #2) > I think its not crashing - it's just freezing, because the widget continues > to work after some time and i get not "Crashed Process Viewer" window (which > usually appears in that case). You can use the Crashed Process Viewer to see if there's a crash log or not https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Using_the_Crashed_Process_Viewer If there is no crash, then you can get system logs from the current session after the freeze happens. 1. After logging in, wait for the freeze, then wait for the system to resume working normally. 2. Run this in a terminal. This will save a file ~/logs.txt which you can attach to this report. sudo journalctl --boot -1 > ~/logs.txt Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 520099] Clipboard Widget blocked/deadlocked for some time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=520099 --- Comment #2 from Marc Schoechlin --- I think its not crashing - it's just freezing, because the widget continues to work after some time and i get not "Crashed Process Viewer" window (which usually appears in that case). Is the describe debugger procedure sufficient in that case? (is assume that i have to await at least the freezing situation, right?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 520099] Clipboard Widget blocked/deadlocked for some time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=520099 TraceyC changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|NEEDSINFO CC||[email protected] Resolution|--- |BACKTRACE --- Comment #1 from TraceyC --- Thanks for the report. The first thing we need to do is figure out if something is actually crashing, or if the clipboard is just freezing. If it's crashing, then there's a coredump and you can get a backtrace. If there's no coredump, there's actually no crash. You can check for coredumps in the Crashed Process Viewer. If there's a crash, we'll need a backtrace as mentioned in the issue template. If there isn't a coredump, we can still get useful information about the freeze. Can you try the steps outlined in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_with_GDB ? Basically installing gdb, then running plasmashell inside gdb until the crash occurs. Sometimes this will help if no crash report/coredump is automatically generated.
