Was happening here on Plasma Mageia-6-rc with Kmail 5.4.3 when the nVidia
'nouveau' driver was in use, but not when the proprietary nVidia driver was in
use.

Have found that if now Disable the Unread Column, Unread counts are appearing
after folder names.
