On my macosx 10.3.8 lilyApp 2.5.28 had png conversion broken. But in 2.5.29 works perfectly, both from app and from command line. Also resolution setting is ok. The only thing that doesn't work as I was expecting is that, while using lilypond.sh from command line, the conversions from .ps put
