Sounds like you may have lost the resource fork on these mac files.
Cross platform files like director casts and movies can be
reassociated. But mac applications and xtras have executable code in
their resource forks. What typically happens when you move a mac app

You might consider ASP and ADO with net lingo. MS Personal Web Server
comes with a guestbook example that can get you started.
