Don't know about belkin, I use a data switch from PI Manufacturing, made in
Taiwan, and works just fine with a HP 920, connectix quick clip, and a umax
scanner. It says nothing about being IEEE compliant.

I would have thought they would, too. On everything else I've found they
are top notch but the website sometimes gives me pause!

I went to their website, and asked to view the catalog by list. via a
link.
It returned:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e0c'
Command text was not set for the command object.
?
Think they would know better.

PS: Thanks for the info. I will try manana.
Check out www.blackbox.com. At one time they had switches and spoolers
that could be controlled by keystrokes and were compliant.

I was on the Belkin site, and they still make mechanical switches, but
they are not IEEE compliant, which, I understand, is needed. The
They are a nuisance. They often are blamed (by the printer manufacturer) for
faulty printer behavior.

That is the problem. I don't have room for more parrallel ports, and
the distance (15 feet) makes it tough, als
Why not just set up different print queues for each printer? Does each have
its own parallel port? If so, it would be easy.
I would avoid mechanical printer switches if possible. I am not
sure what is available with automatic switches.
When you print from mozilla, you can change the printer wi

THe *only* reason that you reboot linux is to change hardware or your
kernel. Unless all 3 of the printers use the same exact postscript
filter, you'll need to do more than just switch the printers, you'll also
have to use the appropriate filter.
