Since you are in control of 'autonam'

Hey,
Iâm trying to set up a system for membership registration for our youth
organisation.
The main goal for the project is to boot right into a java GUI to avoid the trouble of
users messing around with windowmanagers or other tools.
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible to boot and start
Hi all;
Is LDAP a viable alternative to NIS/YP on the clients (for local application use)
I currently have it implemented on the server and was wondering how much of
a hassle it would be to implement on the clients.
Have a great one.

Hi Julien & others,
I was solving roughly the same problem with PXES (thin client, the
difference agains LTSP is that it has a ramdisk root, no nfs). The
solution is based on enbd and supermount and was initially inspired by
http://trieste.linux.it/documenti/ThinClient.html (rather awkward). It

1. How can i check are the apllications are realy
local? top, ps etc. are running at the Server and not at the Client.
2. I don't understand the local-apllication-script. (Documentation LTSP
3.0)
HOST=`echo $DISPLAY | awk -F: '{print $1}'`
rsh ${HOST} MOZILLA_HOM

I missed this the first time. Your workstations and your server aren't
on the same IP network (107 vs 112).

I've added a directory to my /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/ld.so.conf file and deleted
ld.so.cache because ltsp didn't seem to be using the new directory.
Now my problem is that ld.so.cache does not get rebuilt and I cant build it
on the client because ldconfig is missing.
Cant even copy ldconfig to the c

Hello Folks,
Sudev's idea seems to work.
If you want to install ltsp_3xxx on Mandrake 9.2 , change " Mandrake
9.2 to Mandrake 9.1
in /etc/mandrake-release file.
Install the packages and initialize and enjoy.
Don't forget to change back 9.1 to 9.2 .
Thanks

Hi all,
I'm a bit new to LTSP and am in the process of defining a new network using ltsp and
thin clients.
The server i've got available is a dual p3 1.4 with 1gb of ram (2GB MAX) running linux
( prob redhat 9.0). I want the clients to run the following apps :
mozilla web browser, mozilla mail
I'm trying to set up LTSP on a Debian 3.0 system. NFS is working. I can
mount a directory from the server to my local desktop. But when I boot
up the client I get an NFS mount error for /opt/ltsp/i386. Here's the
message:
(null)mount: nfsmount failed: Bad file number
NFS: mount program didn't pass
Mike;
Gnome is not easy to "lock down" - a simpler window
manager would be more configurable. I suggest IceWM.
It has simple files that can be edited to control the
menus. It can also be configured to have buttons on
the taskbar to launch apps.
By default, the menu files are in "/usr/share/icew
Hi,
I'm back another time! :)
I still have some troubles trying to localize the applications I use on
a LTSp client. On the server the applications (I'm talking about
graphical applications but even text application executed in a xterm)
are correctly localized but when I login on the client the

While the current version of kbd seems to be able
to handle multiple layouts, I'm not so sure about
the versions bundled with RedHat (besides, RedHat's
i18n has been utterly crippled since version 8.)
