This is a great tome on why to use open source software/free software.
Everything you need to argue for Linux to those M$ administrative
holdouts. Interesting perspective on the recent CERT / Homeland
Security recommendations to stop using M$ Internet Explorer and related
software.

I have the Fedora Core 1/LTSP images downloaded. I burned the cds, and
installed the server with defaults.
My workstations are all IBM 300PL 6562's, either the 34U versions or
the 50U versions. No hard drives, all have floppies, some have cd's.
They can connect to the server fine, but the sou
I'm wondering if my "economy" switch IS part of the problem.
Another crash just documented. And within the same hour I received a
report of poor voice quality with the VoIP. The switch is unmanaged and
the voice problems haven't been a problem very often so I thought I
could get by with a simple
The entire government of France is heading to Open Source. According to my
latest Mandrake newsletter, they are replacing something in the neighbourhood
of 1,000,000 MS based PCs and 1500 NT servers in one ministry alone.

I've given it a lot of thought, and have decided not to attend

I am hopeful that I will be able to attend that one in Boston next

I change in configuration the vesa driver, the same

this is my configuration:

Probably not for the beta. It's moving too quickly to capture it on a
cdrom. Since releasing the beta late monday night, i've already fixed
several bugs and uploaded new package files.

Peter,
Is the nsc driver working ok for you ?
If you get a chance, could you try setting
XSERVER = cyrix
That's the Xserver that is supposed to work for that chipset.
It's a patch that I've created for XFree86 and Xorg. It's entirely
possible that it's my cyrix driver that is causing all
JAG,
I don't think Largo uses LTSP (they should) but they do use open-source
and thin clients:

There are plenty of organizations in the news saying no to MS.

Jim,
You want unbiased testimonials?? I can't give you that exactly. I'm a
firm believer that if the world would dump their MS crap in the river,
it would be a better and safer Internet! :-)
That said, I've had some real success with LTSP. We have 15 branch
locations in 3 states. Each branch

Just put 4.1 Beta on to test. It seams to work fine, mind you I

Thanks for your kind help.
Actually I am able to do the things you described till vmlinuz---
only.
I have onboard lan and supports pxe boot
so I need bzImage--- and initrd--- for that purpose.
Now question is How to get this images after the steps you have
described.
Sorry, for not
