At the boot loader prompt add the 'single' option to the kernel. This will boot the machine in single user mode. If you have suse linux cd to /etc/sysconfig/ and see if the openldap file has the OPENLDAP_RUN_DB_RECOVER="yes" line. If it is set to no try setting it to yes. This will force ldap to
