I have seen a number of message on both this list, and on the K12LTSP
list about "how do I send a message to all/one user logged into the
server". Well, I know I have seen answers, but I could not find them in
the archieve, or what I found was really just "peices" of what I really

Well, someone reconfigured the server and killed FUSE, among other things.
I reinstalled that, got the fuse group back as it was, but I'm hoping for
a clue from the group as to what needs doing to get the $DISPLAY set right.

Petre/John, thanks for your replies and I appreciate it very much.
This is going to be on a slow/WAN/Internet link. I tried FreeNX
sometime back but was unsuccessful in limiting the user's access only
to the application. Will look into it again.
I will sure try the K12LTSP using VNC in Kiosk mode

which often crashes on sites with Adobe Flash such as
http://nadaguides.com and http://sprint.com . After X dies, you see
the console with an X crash

ltsp server. Internet access is through a central linux firewall and
squidguard in the home office. All remote offices are T1 connected to
the home.
Our question is: what is the best approach for capturing the users

Using synaptic, I installed the Debian ltsp packages from the "testing"
archive ("Etch") on a 350 MHz Pentium II. All packages installed on the
machine are current.
When I run ltspadmin (v. 0.17) and attempt to install the ltsp packages,
I get a "failed the checksum test".
