I have had excellent results with a couple of Intel e1000 cards. lspci says this about the chipset and such. Intel Corporation 82541GI/PI Gigabit Ethernet Controller I'm sure the chipset is different now, as this card is about 4 years old, and you would probably want to find a PCI-X card now,
