no problems here with i386 at the client, ETCH & lp_server.
If you use the lp_server binary from my webpage (within the link in your post)
you should know that this binary was built with Debian Etch i386.
Do you have a clean i386 Etch installation at the client

Hello all
I'm trying to boot the same client in two different LTSP servers. Both
are LTSP 4.2 but one has DHCP 2 and the otrher has DHCP 3.
The problem is that the v2 server gives a hostname to the client, but
the v3 does not. And I need that for Local Device Access.

I've been using lp_server ever since we put it into LTSP, back around
ltsp-3 I think, and it's worked very well. I haven't tried it with
LTSP-5 yet, but it should work.
How are you connecting your printer, is it Parallel or USB ?
