Are local-apps available on Ubuntu Hardy or is this strictly for Intrepid?

Actually, with local apps, you should be able to do all.
Printers are handled in the classic way, as JetDirect printers.
Scanners involves installing the sane backends in the chroot and running
saned from inetd (installing inetd in the chroot, as well). That will
enable all clients to share a si
