My chroot clients are all set to UCT even though the server's timezone is
SAST. Any insights on how to correct this? The messages I found online seem
to suggest that this may be a bug in Ubuntu 16.04, not just me doing
something dumb: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ltsp/+bug/1596448

Is anybody running LTSP in a VirtualBox VM?
I did try this a long time ago, with KVM, but was not able to figure out
how to get the nework interfaces working.

In /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf I've tried both:
LDM_XSESSION=/usr/bin/lxsession -s Lubuntu -e LXDE
and
LDM_SESSION="gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d"
I have both ubuntu and lubuntu installed in the chroot. Do I need to have a
desktop environment installed on the server?

It's been a while since I last had to install LTSP, and I've never done it
using Ubuntu 16.04 before, but things are going very wrong here and I hope
someone can help.
I've installed Ubuntu 16.04 and LTSP but the clients don't have home
directories. I have a machine assigned to opac30 in dhcp.conf
t script for possible workarounds,

I'm trying to install lubuntu in an i386 chroot, but I get the following
erros:
Errors were encountered while processing:
blueman
lubuntu-desktop
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Setting up blueman (2.0.
I was using an Ubuntu 12.04 AMD.64 server to provide LTSP to i386 clients.
Since upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 (still AMD.64), I find that the chroot is
not used the same way.
I could not log into the clients anymore until I deleted the users from the
chroot (clients would authenticate, then return t
nly blank when LTSP_CLIENT is set. But as far as I can tell
LTSP_CLIENT is not set.
(I'm also using Ubuntu 10.04.)

ch as wdm or
xdm, for this functionality. (408417)

The solution, in my case was to:
dpkg-reconfigure gdm
dpkg-reconfigure kdm

I can see that everybody here is too busy printing from local apps to
wait for their screensaver to kick in. But, seriously, is nobody using
gnome-screensaver's slide
a display defined and I was unable to get that right.
Do I have to persevere with xscreensaver, or can gnome-screensaver be
made to work?

This SF.Net email is sponsored by th
inters. Still no menubar or
taskbar. Intriguing, but not particularly useful.
Having looked at some of the bug reports related to Geode that Arno
mentioned earlier, I'm getting the distinct impression that I should
avoid hardware based on Geode.
Thanks for all the help.

Does anybody have recommendations regarding thin client hardware for
the clients?
I see HP offer a few, including the NeoWare range. Has anybody used
these with LTSP?

Another contact of the Netware administrator responded that he too had

didn't make any difference either.
The datestamp is updated and the file size of the nbi.img and
initrd.img files is changed, so mkelfImage does seem to be doing
something.

So you'd take a very dim view of my proposal to run a *third* DHCP server then?
