Hello Jim,
that is right - the standard etherboot image works. However, I found
it very easy to prepare kernels for PXE booting. I needed it to
test remote booting a few gentoo workstations from a server.

PXE support in Etherboot is very new.
This sounds like a question for the Etherboot mailing list.
And, if the standard Etherboot image works, why not just use that ?
