Hi,
I’ve never tried it, but you would likely need to manipulate your library so
that it was divided into portions that don’t exceed the iTunes Match
limitations. You then would match that group of songs, downloading the
upgraded versions. Once you have the upgraded version, you can change to
Hi,
Is there any way to do this? The only way I can justify such an expensive
yearly subscription is having them all upload and replaced by higher quality
songs.

Hi,
Not exactly. If those 400,000 songs are all non-purchased songs, then only
25,000 can be uploaded and matched with your subscription. That size of
library does not work in the current iTunes Match scenario. There are probably
ways you could manipulate things so that you were able to get
In other words, if your entire music collection IE 400 000 songs are all
matched in the iTunes store, you will only have access to 25000 per year?

Oops, I read over Kliph’s scenario again, and I misunderstood it originally.
In either case, my explanation stands correct.
Sorry for any confusion.

Hi Kliph,
If I’m understanding your example correctly, then you’re correct.
EG:
250,000 songs - Kliph’s total music library.
240,000 songs - Purchased from iTunes
10,000 - Ripped from personal music collection.
Therefore, with an iTunes Match subscription, the 240,000 purchased songs are

Hi Cliff, unfortunately it doesn't quite work like this. All the material
you've purchased from the iTunes Store isn't counted against the 25,000 song
limit, however everything else is, including material that iTunes has matched
without the need for you to upload your copy.
25,000 songs is just
So let me get this straight. I was told if your music in your iTunes library
is already in the match data base, that it does not count against your 25
thousand count limit, only songs that match cannot find are counted against
you? Do I have it correct? So for example, I have over 250 thousan
Okay, thanks, that makes sense and is about what I figured. I'm still not sure
if Match is worth the price for me, especially when I could spend less and just
expand my iCloud storage, then dump my music on that instead.

Hi,
Matched are considered different than Purchased to iTunes, so those Matched
items you’ve downloaded to the local machine will remain yours to use and only
Purchased media will be available from the Cloud if you discontinue.

I don’t think you keep it in the cloud. My wife had an inactive subscription
for a year, and when she activated it again, none of her music was there, or
else we just don’t know how to access it.

Thanks. I'm guessing files it can't match will no longer be based in the cloud
if you cancel, correct? But that you keep matched content is good to know, I
just wonder if you only keep it locally or if it is still available in your
cloud-based library (read, purchase history).

iTunes match will basically copy everything you have in your iTunes library
that is available in the iTunes store. If you have tracks that are not
available in the iTunes store, it will upload a copy to your iCloud library.
Once you have Match, you can choose to download better versions of
Hi all,
Quick question. If I got iTunes Match, it will upload all music I have that
iTunes doesn't, and "match" music it does have, essentially considering the
matched songs purchased. If I discontinue Match after the first year, would I
keep the matched music? That is, after I stop using Match,
