I am not using the newest mc, but isnt there a switch 'Preserve Attributes' used just for that purpose? Yes, this feature is present, but it's on by default, and once you start copying, there is no way to change it short of stopping the copying. Not only that, but in this case it does not seem to

I've just updated my mc specifically to update the mcedit. Something got broken in the process. I had to install some libraries before it would compile but it eventualy did. Please take a look at the picture attached, the bottom one is the old mcedit on another machine the top one is the new mc
