Take a look at http://www.headwize.com/articles/hoff_art.htm ... loads of
comments on earbuds and headphones, though most of the discussion focuses on
Sony headphones.
I'm considering a new pair myself... does anyone have any comments on how a

Yesterday I cleaned the battery posts for my car. Took each one off and
wire brushed inside the clamp and the battery post itself. I
reconnected the battery and everything seemed ok. That is until I went
to set the alarm. It doesn't work any more and it is getting power.

If you play a high frequency sound loud enough you will feel it.

Hi all,
Can anybody recommend a nice mic for use with a Sony 930 MD? I plan
to get two and run through a Berringer pre-amp. I'm not worried about
the connections much (I would actually prefer 6.5mm jack to XLR because
I have more equipment with jack sockets) but what I *do* want it to do

I ain't Sony that is the problem, I have seen the cassette adapter sold
separately from the power adapter. SO, it must be the store you bought
it from doesn't want to stock both.

The URL is http://www.minidisc-canada.com/
It was advertised with much enthusiasm in alt.audio.minidisc about a month
ago and it still hasn't opened.
Rick.
I thought that I had seen someone talking about this new totally

Trace, I read on some website that the best headphones for a portable are
the Grado SR60. Rather, they're the best that do not require an
amplifier. Based on that advice, I bought some, and I love them. They
sound fantastic with my portable, and give a nice, well defined bass.
They sound

These are great suggestions. There are better (in fact, *much* better)

I think both aren't very wise.
Hi List,
Just received my Sharp 831 from Minidisco. The battery life is really long
even when pushing Grado SR-60s.
My battery light was flashing yesterday after a long day in the computer
lab. I would say that I might have been able to use the unit for another
hour at most.
I put the uni

I mean the receiver. The MD and amplifier part sound perfect!

The guy at the Sony shop must've been a pushy prick then because you can get
the dummy tapes and power adaptors individually. There should not have been
any reason for him to sell both unless he was out of stock of the individual
tapes at the time.
Adios,

Dear All,
To those of you who replied to my question, thanks. My friend followed the
advice to get a Sony cassette adaptor ... and it works fine. So the old no
name adaptor has been retired. The only downside is that the man in the

You summed it all up for me dude. Sony don't make no crap indeed. That's why
I'm the proud owner of a Sony MDX-C8900 and it's still treating me well
after having it for just over a year, and hell yes, it gets a workout
everytime.
As for the car audio salesmen, it's rare to find salesmen who can

I'm starting to question that a lot!

First, never listen to what a salesman says. If you do, be sure to
translate it. What he is saying is "more commission, more commission,
more commission."
If you think that in some off beat case he may have a point, (probably
not) check out the specs on the two units and see what they say.

I bought the Kenwood KMD 870R head unit and have been very pleased with it's
performance. The tuner is excellent and I generally prefer the feel of
Kenwood in-car stuff. It feels better made than the Sony stuff. I'd pay the
extra and go for the Kenwood.
