The CDR must be recorded as an audio CD for playback
on standard CD players.. not a data disc just with Wavs file on it.
(though it is possible to mix the two mediums on the one CDR)

I have a question. When recording from Minidisc to a PC CDR, you record =
each track as a wav file and then burn them from the wav files to the =

Hoontech has the Digital-NX for $46 (list price) with digital out.
It's a PCI board with all modern features. It even has Open Source
Linux drivers, pretty cool.

Have a look at the Aureal Vortex2-based cards - quite a few have a single
optical out

Buy a soundboard with a S/PDIF output, this is usually a 2 pin 'jumper'
