using just a pickup coil (5 bucks at your nearest electronics shop)
pros: cheap, works anywhere, fits in my md caring case along with
binural mic, cassette adaptor, spare batteries, remote, earbuds, etc.

Well, in that case, look to see if there is any foreign material or sticky
stuff the might be causing it to stick. (spilled pop, etc) Look to see if
there are any dents or anything bent. try to see what part of the cover is
still latched but don't break it.

Yup I sure did, it seems we're on the same wavelength. To make matters
