7;s normal. You should try using
your R700 without the remote. If you still hear a lot of white noise, the
problem might be somewhere else. Hope that helps.

While I don't hear a hiss in pause mode, i hear a hiss whenever the
backlight is on. I'm supposing that this is normal, since it happened on my
sharp 601, too.
Also, regarding the reliability of the F70: several of my friends and I own
this model. Of the three of us, two have the American model
smart, eh?

I think the only way you can extend the backlight is if you hold a button
down. As long as it's pressed, the backlight will stay lit.
