Some basic info (I apologize if this has already been posted):

Two new recorders from Sony, the R90 and R90. Battery life on the NH-14WM
is 6.5/12 (record and playback)... using one AA alkaline, 4/16 (yes, only 4
record), and combined is 14/29. Newly designed pickup mechanism is about
half the size of the R55's and reduces power comsumption...

"Name bank" feature stores the names of artists and keywords, to make
titling faster, storing up to 600 characters worth of words that are used
often.

Capable of reading CD-TEXT from a CD-walkman that is CD-TEXT compatible
(which would have to be the D-E01 right now) using the cable, RX-TXT1.

Digital record level control... No jog dial but there is a "jog lever" on
the left side of the unit, to the left of the display. And I cannot tell
(nor is there any mention) if there is an END SEARCH button. But for some
reason I don't doubt that it's there somewhere.

The dimentions are: 78.9 x 72 x 17.3 (R90) or 18 (R91). The R91 appears to
be 5 grams heavier (not much)... monthly production is 50k for the R90, 40k
for the R91 (that's 90k units a month combined). Official release (which
will probably be broken early) is Oct 10 and Oct 21 respectively, for
Y46000 and Y44000 respectively (yes, the R90 costs more).

R90 is available in Silver and Black (with matching remotes, the new
remotes that came with the E80, not sure if these have "track mark"
buttons), while the R90 comes in red, white and blue (anybody in the US
feeling patriotic? ^_^).

And both recorders appear to have the sliding record switch on the face of
the unit, instead of the front edge. There's also the new "one-touch
eject" mechanism that is also on the E-75. The press release also has info
on the new E-90, with 21 hours of playback on the NiMH alone, 51 combined
batter life, available in red, white and silver.

Personally, I don't think the new designs look that great, they're similar
to the R55 in layout, but I don't really like the round window look of the
R91. Anyway...
