I'm agreeable to the reliability of the Sony portables as my MZR-30 lasted 3
years and the Li-Ion battery is still going strong... The only reason why I
sold it to a friend was because i 'upgraded' to a Sharp 831.

A word of caution though, the reliability of Sony does not extend to their
accessories... the ear buds are fine, but their headphone design does not
ensure durability. I owed a set of EGGO (which i purchased for about 100
USD)it worked fine for less than 8 months before it broke down. I sent it to
Sony for servicing and they quoted me 80 USD, which was for getting the
headband changed. (does that means that the 'phones are US$10 each?) ;)

Anyway, I'm eyeing a pair of Sennheiser (which comes with 3 year warranty that
Sony does not have).
