I forgot to mention that none of the portables have a digital output at
this time. THey have digital input, but not output. The decks do but
they are pretty unhandy to take to a field recording session because
they don't have a mike input and you have to supply power and a preamp,
and they are
I use the Sony, because I don't have to mess with setting the record
level when take it to festival to record "parking lot picking" and jam
sessions. I have to contend with the END SEARCH problem, but the time
and date stamping, and automatic level settings really help in that
environment. To
trying to decide which md recorder to get for field recordings at night
outdoors in bad conditions-rain etc. need durable machine with dig output
and also need advice on microphones. thanks
