Thanks for responses. Last time I had to deal with this part was on my 108 -
bolied battery and fried alt., but as I recal was bolted to sheet metal on side
of engine compartment.
Interesting to note that this unit went south on the 126 when we had rain which
rarely happens this time of year
I am looking for the voltage reg on a couple 126's - an 82 380SEL and an 83
300SD
can someone please tell me where they hang out

I fear I was too aggressive at the car wash while spraying under the hood, as
that directly correlates with engine not shutting down with key - thank
goodness for the kill switch.
Is there a wire or relay that is the culprit?

I filled the windshield fluid tank, walked away for awhile and returned to find
large poodle on floor and empty tank. Started the '83 300SD and backed out of
garage and parked for the night. Next am, dead battery. Did overnite charge,
next am fired right up and moved it to shady spot. Appr

Just got my 300SD back after wife driving it for a week -now the
forward/rear function don't function. Moving the switch produces audible from
the
motor, but it's almost as if gear(?) does not engage the (track?) How does
this
work? Is it similar to a starter where solenoid engages gear
This year's EIP award (Excellence In Parts) goes to Rusty Cullens -- no
surprise there.
I called Rusty midday Tuesday for warranty on radiator, and a new one showed
up on my doorstep Wednesday 5 p.m.

I recently picked up a 126 gasser for parts for my 300SD.? Need
recommendation:? My existing dash has some cracks in vinyl with bad wood.? The
parts car has crack free dash with sweet burl wood.?
Will it be easier/faster to swap out the ENTIRE dash, or should I consider just
swapping the wood

I just acquired the SEL as a donor for my 300SD in the hope of swapping a
few parts. The donor dash has the burl wood trim and no cracks so I'm gonna
try that - all the cutouts appear identical including shifter trim. It looks
to be a real PITA job, but I'm sure it is in the manual. Does

After about ten minutes of jiggling, wiggling and fiddling with the key I was
getting into the Zen of MB repair when I all of a sudden I LOST IT and started
beatin' the hell out of the steering wheel.? The key turned!!!
Hit the kill switch, disconnected the battery and reaffirmed my vow to al
SO, I go to start the car (300SD - just passed the 250K mark), and the key
won't turn. Pull it out, flip it over -- same thing. Go get a spare key --
ditto.
Am I BONED? and need to get it drilled if I can't get it to turn?

So my 20 year old took the 300SD along with 3 friends up the Kingsbury grade
to Lake Tahoe for the festivities yesterday in 106 degree heat - almost
three thousand feet elevation change over the eight miles. He was about 400
feet
from summit when he noticed temp gauge, pulled over and just
I was disinclined to do the center mount replacement, so dropped SLC off to
George of Valley Wagon, Carson City. As it turns out it was both the mount
and one of the flex discs. Thanks for the diagnoses.
I furnished parts, and the labor for 2 flex discs, ctr. mount & bearing, and
diff. m
Thanks for the suggestions of bad flex disc or center mount. I crawled
under and inspected both. The flex discs looked OK with no cracks, but the
center mount was trashed and had shined up the underside by beating against it.
