Is the disconnect interval set too low? Below is from MQ Help Panels -
Use the 'Disconnect interval' field to specify the time that the channel
should wait for a message to arrive on the transmission queue before it

Hello all. We are going to be implementing 64-bit mode on our 2.10 LPAR's as
the first step of migration to z/OS. Has anyone out there done this, and/or
are there any known MQ gotchas? Thanks in advance!

We have a home-grown monitor program that runs once an hour. One of the
application guys wrote a program that reads the output of CSQUTIL. We
identify channels that are not active (stopped, retrying, etc.), and also
check the depths of some 'important' local queues. We even have it setup to

If I recall correctly, there were a few 'toleration' PTFS that I had to
apply to allow that. This way you can fall back to your previous version of
MQ if you have to. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Sam.

That is the subsystem command character(s). It can be changed/added in
SYS1.PARMLIB member IEFSSNxx. If you just use 1 character only, you can't
share it with other queue mangers. Here is what one of my IEFSSNxx members
looks like. HTH.
xMQP,CSQ3INI,'CSQ3EPX,#xMQP,M'
xMQS,CSQ3INI,'CSQ3EPX,|xMQS,M
You will have to assign another port (i.e., 1415) for your other queue
manager. Startup parm change to do so.

Valerie,
I fought this same problem for weeks. IBM support stepped in and I sent them
several queue dumps and other information they had asked for. I ended up
deleting the messages/records out of SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ and let the queue
rebuild itself. Haven't had another problem like that since. HT
FWIW, I went from V1.2 to V5.2 last year. There are toleration PTF's that
make it easy to 'flip-flop' between the prior release and new one if the
need arises. Basically all you have to do is change the MQ subsystem
libraries and batch jobs/tso procs that reference them. Besides applying the

Hey all,
Is there any supplied utility that will allow searching for a specific
string in MQ's archive log(s)? When I say logs, I mean these - "CSQJ003I
#qmgr FULL ARCHIVE LOG VOLUME". Something along the lines of CSQ1LOGP, but
with filtering capabilities. Thanks in advance.
