I am posting this separate note about this change in 4.1.3, because it is
unusual that a data conversion is needed in a MySQL server upgrade.
The default charset of MySQL was latin1 in 3.23 and in 4.0, and it is
latin1_swedish_ci from 4.1.2 on.

On the nifty outer join query, I expect to get 24 rows back, but only get
16; all rows with either a null a.rangeid or a.rangeid=4 are missing. This
(effectively) same query works in Oracle and returns all data. (as FYI, the
query is trying to get back descriptions that are effective dated - however,
some descriptions may not be there for various reasons).
So, am I writing this query incorrectly for MySQL? Is this a possible bug?

i want to compile the development tree source from
bk://mysql.bkbits.net/mysql-4.1 on SuSE 8.2 Linux. The compiling of the
mysql-4.1 without the ndb-cluster works fine.
When set the configuration-option --with-ndbcluster, the compilation
fails with the error:
ha_ndbcluster.o(.text+0x3
I'm trying to build RPMs from Mysql Cluster, yes the alpha version, but I
run into this problem... no .so -files. What I'm missing here? I'm using
redhat 9 source rpm as my starting point.
