Why not use:
mysql> SELECT * FROM member INTO OUTFILE 'output_file_text';
?
Another way:
mysql> SELECT * FROM member LIMIT 0,10;
And, to see the next 10 members:
mysql> SELECT * FROM member LIMIT 10
