I was working with my modem, finally got it to the point that it would

I currently have the Diamond Viper V550. It installs
properally except when I go to run X Windows it crashes and freezes up or it
freezes the processor. I know in windows I have to set the acceleration to 50%
unlike 100%. I think X WINDOWS is trying to use 100% and therefore in turn
crashed

I have just installed RedHat 6.0 on my computer. When I was going
through the installation process my video card was detected but it
couldn't set it up and the message said that I would have to set it up
manually. I am new to Linux and have no idea how to do this. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks. I am going to keep plugging away at it. If you come up with anything else,
please let me know.

I'm new at using mandrake linux. I've been trying to figure out how to get a program
to start when the computer starts up. In DOS, this can be done in the autoexec.bat
program. Is there a similar startup file in linux? What would be the syntax to use
when starting a program this way? Thank

Kpackage is a program that will install and uninstall programs that come
in RPM form. A program packaged in RPM form will always have a ".rpm" on
the end. If you're interested, RPM stands for "Red hat Package Manager."
It was developed to make installing programs easier on people. Kpackage

That is not true. I have a shell account on a Linux box, and I use pine to
get my school mail through POP. You need to create another Pine profile.
Look in the man pages for how to do t

Dan,
Boy, after reading all that, I don't think there is much hope for a
newb, dummie, like myself. I would never have figured all that out.
BTW, where is the Kpackage located, and what is its purpose?
Thanks,

OK, this isn't really a Mandrake problem, but it _is_ happening on my
Mandrake system...
Some of you may recall that I had some trouble with lilo last week. In
short, my system boots (both Linux and Windoze) from a SCSI hard drive,
but I have an IDE drive attached for storage pur
