The Sound Blaster Live works very well with Mandrake 6 and Cooker. All you
have to do is download the latest modules from creative FTP, follow the
manual install procedure. For kernel 2.2.9 you best use the 2.2.5 module. To
load the module type
insmod -f emu10k1
if you get a device busy error, typ

/proc/interrupts lists all interrupts currently in use by the kernel and
its modules. Be aware, though, that an interrupt won't be listed in
this file if the device isn't being "driven" -- serial port interrupts

I also have similiar problems with my via-rhine dlink dfe-530 tx NIC. I have

How do I check for IRQ conflicts in Linux?
Thanks
I've got a Diamond StealthII G460, and had the same problem as you. But I found
a way to get it working. This is should help.
1. install the XBFi740 rpm that came with MDK6 cd.
2. cd /usr/X11R6/bin
3. ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XBF_i740 XF86_SVGA
4. run Xconfigurator

This has been covered a few times lately, and yep, it's no problem. You
don't specifiy which kernel you have, so i can't tell you which of the three
modules from Creative's tar file to use.
If you have the standard 2.2.9-19mdk that comes with 6.0, use the 2.2.5
module. If you have a 2.0.xx kernel

the thing is, I had tried that. I have a fair luggage of DOS knowledge
and the variable was always empty. So I went out today and bought a book
about programming: Linux programmer's reference.
The mistake I made was to run my program and then ask for the contents
of the variable. If I write the ec

Hey...this is easy to fix
in your home directory (the one you start in right when you log in)
type:
mkdir ~/tmp
You only have to do that for the root user and the one unprivlaged user you
made during install. It looks like linuxconf does that for the rest of um

Hi,
I selected all the package categories except "extra documentation",
that is, I did not select individual packages. After configuring
autofs, found no autofs (/usr/sbin/automount not there). Then I
went to the RPMS directory on the CD and did rpm -ivh autofs...rpm
This went fine, showed that
try :
echo $IPADDR
and verify if the address is what you expect it to be

Nope. It was a fresh install. In case you didn't know, an ISO is like a
snapshot of a CD-Rom
So, rather than having to worry about downloading hundreds of files from
the FTP site, I only downloaded one 618 meg file.
What kind of sound problems have you had? What sound card do you have?

60-2.iso = 6.0 + all updates on the ftp server.

Hi.
I've got a problem with my net card at boot time when the system tries to load
the module (via-rhine.o). It isn't loaded since I get some "unresolved symbol"
errors. This problem appears when I also try to load ppp.o. How can I solve
this problem ? Thank you.

When you installed 60-2.iso (yes, I'm a newbie), was this an upgrade? I
too, purchased the 6.0 version and installed and have had sound problems.
What would I look for and download as an upgrade?

OK, PATH=$PATH:. worked.
I set a variable in that script:
IPADDR=`/sbin/ifconfig eth1 | grep "inet addr:" | cut -f2 -d: | cut -f1
-d" "`
How can I check if this variable got assigned the proper value?
Many tanks for your help,
