I fixed that floppy mounting problem, but I still don't have any sound. I
have turned it on in everywhere I know, but I still don't have sound. What
needs to be compiled into my kernel for me to have sound? I am positive my
card is supported, so any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Firstly is your modem a PCI or ISA modem. If it's PCI then it's most likely to
be a winmodem which will not work with linux. If it's an ISA modem (with dip
switches or jumpers) you need to disable the PnP and set it up using
jumpers/switches to say COM4 IRQ3. Remember that the dev/ttyS number runs

I am sorry for not being more specific. I get to the part in installation
where it asks for "What is the location of the directory of C header files
that match your running kernel." When I point to that specific directory,
the KDevelopment programs pops up... nothing happens after that.

Quick question, has anyone gotten mandrake update to work? I remember using
it with 6.0 a while ago, it worked pretty sweet.
All the mirrors return basically the same error... i tried a lot of them.
I'm using the latest version of MandrakeUpdate. Anyone else having problems?

Hello Newbies: I was told that Linux 6.0 came with ipop3d, but I have been
trying to start that daemon and it is not there. Where is a good source for
a POP3 binary file?
Thanks In Advance

I'm glad that you got Linux installed.
Try this...
When the boot prompt appears, press the tab key to see a list of bootable
images. One of the images should read, "Linux". Now type "Linux" followed
by your UDMA controller parameters. You need to repeat the exact same steps

MailStudio sounds like it would do everything you need and more. I haven't
tried it yet but it sounds very good.
Kmail comes with Mandrake and is also a good program.

You can turn virtual screens off if you use xf86config or rather it gives
the option of using a virtual screen when you set the resolutions that are
available for each colour depth.
xf86config is not a GUI it is text based and offers more options than
Xconfigurator.

What does this mean:
parport0: detected irq 7; use procfs to enable interrupt-driven operation.
I get this message when I am printing through my Mandrake6.1 server. It shows up on
the console screen and in the /var/log/messages file.
