I did as you did with the new Xserver and agpgart.o
module from Intel. I never got it to work with the new
7.0 kernel, the module kept complaining about the kernel
not being the 2.2 version. I'm running Mdk. 6.1 right now
and it works great (
I know an even easier fixboot up with your cd, go into the install
program in expert modejust do an UPGRADE (very important)...then don't
select any packs to upgrade and continue..it will re-install one file,
and then it will let you re-configure your video from there.

use fdisk from withing linux to REMOVE all partition and then reboot.

I had the same problem, even the BIOS reported 473MB for a 13GB Disk.
It all turned out to be due to the Linux Boot Partition having been
placed beyond the 1023rd cylinder, I think.

Hi All, I had a problem with my CD-ROM access using Mandrake 7.0. I
received some sage advice from many of you out there. They did not seem to
work. I was obviously doing something wrong. I am sure I am not familiar
with Linux is the major problem..

generates pages of errors from the compiler.

You could have downloaded the "Netscape 6" for a long time now, at
mozilla.org. Netscape 6 will have the bundled features (like AIM) put in, but
mozilla is the basic navigator, email client, etc. And from what I've seen, it
looks promising. Still buggy, but definitly promising.

During installation of 7.0, the setup routine bound eth0 to my 3c509 card with dhcp.
Upon boot the lo port is okay, but eth0 fails. under ifconfig, it only lists the lo
port. how do i set up the eth0 port?

when i boot using my win98 floppy and use fdisk, it says i only have 473 MB
of total disk space, when I actually have a 6.4 GB hard drive. But I'll

Compared to Linux, Windows does suck in some respects, however in many
respects Linux has a long way to go to catch windows. The fact that you
think windows sucks doesn't mean you won't be using it. People have always
know that Windows sucks, but yet it is the most popular OS in the world by

Just for your information:
If you are dual-booting Win NT and linux you don't have any of these
problems. If you have to upgrade windows it is not a problem, the MBR
doesn't get overwritten as long as you don't change any of the partitioning.

Did you properly set up your DNS adresses on your linux box?
You can do it with netconf and add your isp's DNS adresses.

I am no expert but I will tell you that unless you are willing to learn at
least a bit of how Linux works then you really shouldn't be using it. First of
all, you will drive yourself insane, second of all, it does not run like
Wind'ohs. YOu will HAVE to learn about Linux file systems and
Kirklilo can't keep you from booting with a floppy because
you set the system bios to boot whatever device you want to be
the boot device. If you tell the bios to try the floppy first
or to only boot from the floppy then if there is a bootable disc
present in the drive, your system will boot
